Kelly Bensimon is a 'Real' reporter
Kelly Bensimon was taping the new season of “Real Housewives of New York” yesterday, trying her hand at “man on the street” interviews.
Here she is on Madision Avenue, looking about as Brenda Starr-ish as she can, stopping people and taking their pictures for an article she’s writing for Gotham magazine, the eight-year-old glossy monthly distributed only in the upscale neighborhoods of Manhattan.
See, she’d got all the tools of the trade — the clip board, the backpack, the iPhone .
Kelly — who was an editor for an Elle magazine accessories spin-off — was promising a party invite to anyone who would cooperate with her once the story was published.

The “Housewives” cameras followed the 40-year-old former model up and down the avenue on her quest for everyday people who’d talk to her about what they were wearing.
Hey, Kelly, take it from someone who does man-on-the-street stories for a living.
Never try to interview a man actually on the street. Look for people sitting down.
In New York, people on the street are usually headed somewhere and have no patience for reality TV stunts.
The New York version of “Real Housewives” has been taping for nearly a month now, though all the ladies haven’t been gathered yet for a single shoot.
Just one at a time — including the newest featured character in the New York society saga, Sonja Morgan, 45, ex-wife of J.P. Morgan’s great grandson.
She starts filming next week, we hear.
